Early voting

In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse needed. Early in-person voting is available March 10 to March 17 for the Presidential Primary; October 23 to October 30 for the General Election/Congressional Primary; and November 17 to November 24 for the Congressional Run-off.

By mail – A voter may vote early by mail if he has a valid excuse. The most common valid excuses include: being 65 or over; being in the military or the spouse or dependent of someone in the military; expecting to be away from the voter’s parish of registration during the early voting period and election day; expecting to be hospitalized or restricted to bed by a physician during the early voting period and election day; or being disabled.

Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots may be made between January 24 and March 10 for the Presidential Primary; September 7 and November 2 for the General Election/Congressional Primary; and October 2 and November 27 for the Congressional Run-off.

Voted absentee ballots must be received by the Registrar no later than the day before the election.
