Vote Early in MICHIGAN
Early voting in person - It is not permitted in this state to vote in
person before Election Day.
By mail - A registered voter may vote early by mail if he is 60 years
of age or older, unable to vote without assistance at the polls, expects to be
absent from his city or township for the entire time polls are open, unable to
attend the polls due to religious beliefs, in jail awaiting trial or
arraignment, or has been appointed an election inspector in a precinct not his
own. The voter must make a written request for an absentee ballot to his city or
township clerk by January 12 for the Presidential Primary, by August 2 for the
State Primary, or by November 1 for the General Election if he wishes to receive
his ballot by mail. A downloadable application for an absentee ballot is
available at
www.michigan.gov/documents/AbsentVoterBallot_105377_7.pdf. (PDF format)
The voter may find contact information for his local Clerk at
www.mcgi.state.mi.us/mivote/clerksearch.aspx. Absentee ballots must be
returned to the Clerk's office by Election Day.
