Early Voting in NEW YORK
In person - A registered voter may vote early in person at his County
Board of Elections office if he will be unavoidably absent from his county on
Election Day. The voter may vote no earlier than 30 days before the election and
no later than the day before the election. The voter must fill out an
application for an absentee ballot, stating why he cannot vote on Election Day,
then receive his ballot, and turn it in at the Board of Elections office. A
directory of Board of Elections offices is available at

By mail - A registered voter may vote early by mail if he will be
unavoidably absent from his county on Election Day, unable to vote due to
illness or disability, in a Veterans Administration Hospital, or in jail but
still eligible to vote. The voter should download an absentee ballot application
at
www.elections.state.ny.us/NYSBOE/download/voting/absentee.pdf in PDF format
and mail it to his County Board of Elections no later than seven days before the
election. The voter may also request in writing an absentee application;
such written request must be received by the County Board of Elections no later
than seven days before the election. A directory of County Board of Elections

Ballots must be received by a Board of Elections office or postmarked the day
before the election.
