Alaska will elect a Governor in 2018.

General Election voter registration deadline – October 7, 2018

General Election date – November 6, 2018

Early voting –

In person –      Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse required.  Early in-person voting is available between:

October 22, 2018 and Election Day for the General Election.

Early in-person voting locations will be posted on the Alaska Division of Elections website ( approximately one month before each Election Day.

By mail –        

Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required.  An absentee ballot application may be requested starting on January 1 for elections held in the coming year.  Absentee ballot applications are also available online at

An absentee ballot application must be received by the Absentee and Petition Office 10 days before Election Day.  If you are also registering to vote for the first time, your absentee ballot application must be received 30 days before Election Day. 

A completed absentee ballot must be postmarked before or on Election Day.

By fax or computer -      

Any voter may vote early by fax or by the state’s Secure Online Delivery System, no excuse required.  Applications for Electronic Transmission Ballots (i.e. fax or computer ballots) must be received by the day before Election Day.  By-fax and online voting begins 15 days before each Election Day.
