North Carolina will elect a Governor and a U.S. Senator in 2016

General Election voter registration deadline – October 14, 2016

Early voting –

In person –

 Any voter may register and/or vote early in person at One Stop Absentee Voting sites, no excuse required.

In person early voting for the General Election begins October 20, 2016 and ends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 5, 2016.  Locations for early in-person voting will be announced by local county board of elections offices.

By mail – 

 Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required.  A request for a vote-by-mail ballot must be received by the county board of elections office by 5:00 PM on the Tuesday before the election.

General Election vote-by-mail ballots became available on September 9, 2016.

Vote-by-mail ballots must be received by 5:00 PM on Election Day or postmarked no later than Election Day and received within three days after the election.  They may also be returned in person at a One Stop Absentee Voting Site during the early voting period of October 20 to November 5, 2016.
