RHODE ISLAND

Rhode Island will elect a Governor and a U.S. Senator in 2018.

Primary Election voter registration deadline – August 12, 2018

Primary Election date – September 11, 2018

General Election voter registration deadline – October 7, 2018

General Election date – November 6, 2018

 Early voting –

In person –  Voting early in person is not permitted. 

By mail –  You may vote early by mail if: you are physically unable to vote at a polling place due to illness or disability; you are confined to a nursing home or hospital within Rhode Island; you will be outside the United States on Election Day; or you will not be able to vote at your polling place on Election Day.

Completed applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be witnessed or notarized and received by the local Board of Canvassers no later than 21 days before a Primary or General Election.  If a situation arises within 20 days of an election where a voter will need an absentee ballot, he should contact his local Board of Canvassers for an Emergency Mail Ballot.  Marked ballots must be received no later than Election Day to be counted.
