Early Voting in TEXAS
In person - Any registered voter may vote early in person in the
Presidential/State Primary between February 19 and February 29 and in the
General Election between October 20 and October 31.
The voter
should contact his early voting clerk for information on places and times for
early voting. If the voter has difficulty walking or standing, curbside voting
is available where an election official will bring the ballot to the voter's
car. The voter should call his early voting clerk in advance to arrange for
curbside voting. Contact information for early voting clerks is available at
www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/county.shtml
By mail - A registered voter may vote early by mail if he will be away
from his county of residence during the early voting period (February 19-29 for
the Primary; October 20-31 for the General Election) and on Election Day, if he
is sick or disabled, if he is over 65 years of age, or if he is confined to jail
but still eligible to vote. The eligible voter may request that an absentee
ballot be mailed to him at
www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/reqabbm.shtml or he can download the
application himself at
www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/a5-14.pdf in PDF format. All
applications for an absentee ballot must be received by an election official no
later than May 2 for the Primary and October 28 for the General Election.
Absentee ballots must be received by Election Day.
