Official Update from Reverend David Deibel, Canonical Advisor
December 16, 2011
Father Frank remains a priest in good standing with the Church. In fact, he
is currently has an assignment in the Diocese of Amarillo as a chaplain to a
group of sisters in the diocese where he exercises his priestly ministry
with the full approval of his bishop. In addition, he continues his pro-life
ministry as he has done for many years. He has not been accused of any
wrongdoing or fiscal misconduct. Priests for Life remains an association of
the faithful within the understanding of the Church's discipline. The appeal
to higher Church authority on behalf of Father Pavone and Priests for Life
is an exercise of the rights of Father Pavone and the association within
Church law and is in no way dismissive of or rebellious to the authority of
the bishop. Rather, Father Frank remains obedient to his bishop in carrying
out his assignment in Amarillo. The Pastoral Team and Board of Directors of
Priests for Life unanimously support Father Frank's leadership as well as
the plans and programs in place for the coming year. Finally, Priests for
Life continues to enjoy support of Church leaders, including two cardinals
and twenty bishops of the advisory board, and the pro-life community at
large.

Reverend David L. Deibel, JD, JCL
