Your Excellency:

This letter is written to you with a heavy heart, and a feeling of bewilderment, by a Catholic who has been active in the Pro-Life, and Right to Life movements for over half my life.

I have been made aware of a recent letter sent by your Excellency to Bishops throughout the United States, which tragically has been leaked to the press, and is creating a scandal that is injurious to the unborn, and the pro-life community. The letter contains some general accusations, but not specifics, as to the conduct of Father Frank Pavone, and his work with Priests For Life.

Amazingly, your letter suggests that the Bishops urge their faithful to withhold donations to Priests For Life, until these non specific issues, and concerns are settled. This is tantamount to asking for a guilty verdict, including the imposition of a serious penalty, prior to the investigation being concluded. Most unfortunately, and tragic, is the fact that the guilty verdict, and penalty, is being suffered by the UNBORN -- a terrible breach of justice. I'm confident the abortion industry rejoices over this request, as their governmental, and private funding continues unabated, while a most effective, and giant of an organization in the pro-life effort is seriously, and perhaps irreparably wounded.

I beg your Excellency to rescind your letter, pending the completion of your investigation, and to immediately urge your fellow Bishops in writing, to ask that their faithful continue with the financial support of Priests For Life. This is asked in behalf of the tens of thousands of unborn that will be adversely harmed by a cutoff, or diminution of funds to this worthy, pro-life, Catholic organization.

Your Excellency, I'm confident that you can clear these matters up with recourse to the board of directors of Priests For Life, for personal information, and the CPA prepared documents required to be filed with various governmental agencies for financial matters.
