Thank U.S. Senators Trying to Protect Babies from Dismemberment
April 15, 2019
This month, Sen. James Lankford, R-OK, and Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., introduced a bill that Democrats are afraid to call by its name.
The Dismemberment Abortion Ban Act of 2019 (S. 1035) seeks to protect unborn babies from brutal abortion methods currently used to perform most second-trimester abortions.
At Priests for Life we have been advocating for this type of legislation for two decades. I was proud to stand by then-Gov. Sam Brownback in Kansas as he signed the first such measure on the state level. It is time for the U.S. Congress to ensure the same kind of protection for babies nationwide.
It was a brilliant idea to use the term “dismemberment” in the name of the bill because even its opponents – that is, the Democrats – have to come face-to-face with the reality of the procedure that literally tears a baby limb from limb to pull him from his mother’s womb.
As Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, points out, there are numerous women involved in Silent No More who have had late-term abortions and the guilt they feel afterward is crippling. They are unassailable advocates for the passage of a dismemberment ban. Also, most of the women who have died after abortion in the last several years did so after second-trimester abortions. The later an abortion, the more dangerous it is for mothers.
I am asking you to call your U.S. senators to either thank them, if they have signed on as co-sponsors of the Dismemberment Abortion Ban Act, or to urge them to support it.
Please make calls today to both senators. The babies are counting on you.

And please forward this email to everyone you know who may be interested in helping!
