Thank Senator Lindsey Graham for his advocacy for the unborn!
April 16, 2019
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-SC, recently held a hearing titled, Abortion Until Birth: The Need to Pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
Sen. Graham has introduced a Pain-Capable bill every year since 2013. And I have been in strategy meetings with him about it, and have seen firsthand his passion for protecting these children.
This bill would, with rare exceptions, outlaw abortions beyond 20 weeks, based on the undisputable science that babies at this stage feel pain.
Opening the hearing, Sen. Graham noted that the U.S. is one of only seven nations in the world that allow abortion beyond 20 weeks.
“I don’t think an abortion five months into pregnancy makes us a better nation,” he said.
Five women were invited to testify about the bill; three were pro-life and two would like to see our nation continue its membership in an abortion-until-birth club that also includes China and North Korea.
We don’t know what will happen next with the bill. In 2018, it did not garner the necessary 60 votes to be brought to the Senate floor for a vote on the bill itself. A similar bill passed in the House in 2017, but now the Democrats (the party that has never met an abortion it doesn’t like) are in the majority and most of those who are still in office voted against the bill.
Let that sink in:
These Democrats voted against a bill that would have protected from unbearable pain the most vulnerable Americans.
But the Republican majority has stepped up to the plate and wants to protect these children.
We need to thank Senator Graham for his unwavering support for the babies by re-introducing this bill.
