Call your Senators about protecting the Hyde amendment
October 27, 2021
For the first time since the 1970s, Senate Democrats are considering spending bills without the protection of the Hyde amendment, which protects taxpayer funding from being used to pay for most abortions, and which has saved some 2.4 million lives!
The spending package submitted recently by Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont would provide more than $10 billion in public health funding grants that would not be protected by Hyde. The bill also would create a Medicaid “look alike” program that would pay for abortion on demand in 12 states.
“I am alarmed at so much that is in this bill,” said House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy at a meeting of pro-life leaders and House members recently.
The Democrat majority in the House is all for taxpayer-funded abortion on demand. When he was a U.S. Senator, Joe Biden was firmly in favor of the Hyde amendment but now that he is the abortion-cheerleader-in-chief, Biden wants to get rid of it. He has turned his back on the unborn and their mothers.
So the Senate is where we have to concentrate our efforts to reinstate Hyde in the spending bills.
Will you help by contacting your senators? Let’s tell them the amendment has enjoyed bipartisan support since 1976 and that you, their constituents, expect them to vote against any bill that does not contain Hyde protections.
Hyde saves lives. We cannot let this amendment die.
When you click here, you will find out how to contact your senators and what to say once you do.
Please act today, and please pass along this email to as many others you know who may be interested.
