Thank House members for voting to protect life!
January 12, 2023
Friends,
As I’m sure you know, the U.S. House yesterday passed the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, H.R. 26, increasing protection for babies who survive abortions.
The vote was 220-210. No Republicans voted against the bill; only one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, voted in favor.
The House also passed a resolution condemning the violent and destructive attacks on pregnancy resource centers, churches and pro-life organizations. That vote was 222-209, and this time three Democrats crossed the aisle to vote in favor. Those Democrats are Rep. Vicente González (D-TX), Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez (D-WA), and Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA).
What I am asking you to do, today if possible, is call your representative to thank him or her for voting to protect life and pro-lifers.
All of us have a duty to work toward passing bills like Born Alive but we also must take responsibility for encouraging our representatives. Some of the Republican members of the House vote the right way but are not as passionately pro-life as we might wish. We need to share our fire with them.
Some lawmakers might think that supporting pro-life bills, and the pro-life position in general, is a political liability. But we know it’s a winning issue and one way we can convince them is to thank them when they vote to protect babies in the womb and their mothers.
If they receive an overwhelmingly positive response to their votes in the House, that will go a long way toward showing them that voting in favor of life is not only the right choice, but also politically beneficial.
That’s where you come in. Can you pick up the phone today and let your representative know how happy you are with their show of solidarity for the babies?
If your Representative voted correctly, make sure to tell him/her how much you appreciate their courage in bucking their leadership.
And of course, if your representative voted the wrong way, you need to let them know your feelings on that as well. (Please note three Republicans did not vote: Vern Buchanan of Florida, and Wesley Hunt and Roger Williams of Texas.)
Will you call your House member? May I ask you to do it today, or as soon as possible?
Click on this link to let us know that you will help and then you will be taken to a page with a phone number to call and a sample message to deliver, one for Republicans and two for Democrats.
Please act today, and please pass along this email to as many others you know who may be interested.
And thank you for being part of the Priests for Life Family!
Sincerely,

Pro-Life Leader Frank Pavone
