Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, there has been an increased focus on individual state abortion laws. Pro-abortion forces are taking drastic measures, such as proposing amendments to state constitutions. Pro-lifers are pushing back, working diligently to ensure every state is safe for both the unborn and their mothers. On this page, we will provide you with the latest updates in Arizona and when we have information on how you can help, we will provide that.
Arizona pro-abortion state ballot initiative
Arizona for Abortion Access, a coalition of reproductive rights activists, announced on September 21, 2023 that they have begun gathering signatures for an abortion rights amendment that could appear on the November 2024 ballot.
The amendment, known as the “Arizona Abortion Access Act” would enshrine the right to abortion into the state constitution by making abortion a “fundamental right” at any point until fetal viability, which is typically around 23-24 weeks of pregnancy.
The campaign needs to collect 383,923 valid signatures from voters by July 3 of next year in order to make the ballot, per a news release from the Fairness Project, a progressive nonprofit organization that is supporting this reproductive rights initiative along with similar ones across the country.
