… Your decision [to legalize abortion] has deformed a great nation.”
– Saint Teresa of Calcutta
J. K. Rowling is the best-selling author of the Harry Potter series of novels. In this thoughtful piece, she shares about her ongoing experience of facing vicious attacks from transgender activists and their evangelists.
Rowling does not share many of the values and goals of conservative/traditional Catholics and other Christians. Yet, her experience in Britain speaks to the increasingly bizarre zeitgeist here in the United States, as the liberal elite writhe in a collective orgy of self-abasement in response to the tragic death of George Floyd.
Rowling shares some background:
“For people who don’t know: last December I tweeted my support for Maya Forstater, a tax specialist who’d lost her job for what were deemed ‘transphobic’ tweets. She took her case to an employment tribunal, asking the judge to rule on whether a philosophical belief that sex is determined by biology is protected in law. Judge Tayler ruled that it wasn’t.”
In response to her tweet, the Twitter Orcs of Mordor were unleashed on Rowling:
“I was transphobic, I was a c@#!, a bitch, a TERF [Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist], I deserved cancelling, punching and death. You are Voldemort said one person, clearly feeling this was the only language I’d understand.”
Rowling goes on to share something very important that applies to the current collective insanity unfolding in city halls, corporate and congressional offices, and college campuses across our nation:
“It would be so much easier to tweet the approved hashtags – because of course trans rights are human rights and of course trans lives matter – scoop up the woke cookies and bask in a virtue-signaling afterglow. There’s joy, relief and safety in conformity.”
What Rowling would fail to understand, is how the transgender insanity, and rise of totalitarian group-think, are symptoms of the marriage of advanced consumer capitalism and sexual revolution; the idolatry of worshipping the passions, appetites and whims of the hyper-autonomous self.
The toxic fruit of the sexual revolution, the legalization of abortion in 1973, was an essential part of a diabolical plan to weaken us emotionally, spiritually, and socially as individuals, families and as a nation.
The natural and supernatural evil unleashed by the socially sanctioned sacrifice of millions of children in the womb has been wounding individuals, couples and families for decades.
We are now seeing these diabolical forces ascend in our society in ways that only a few years ago would have seemed impossible.
In response to the death of George Floyd, politicians like Chuck Schumer of New York, performed media theater for the public as they knelt with congressional colleagues and confessed their complicity in the sins of privilege and racism. As Rowling’s wrote, they were eating the woke cookies and basking in the virtue-signaling afterglow.
But behind the virtue signaling, is a lust for raw power; the power of the federal government. With the office of the president firmly in their grasp come November, they can reverse the accomplishments of the Trump administration, especially in advancing the prolife cause.
Meanwhile, in Schumer’s congressional district, more African American children die in the womb each year – than are born.
Perhaps Senator Schumer could have a press conference where he shares his grief at the death of close to 30,000 African-American babies a year.
“A majority of abortion businesses are in areas with high minority populations. Abortion apologists will say this is because they want to serve the poor. You don’t serve the poor by taking their money to terminate their children. Abortion is accomplishing the goals of which racism only dreamed.”
Senator Schumer in the past has called for a more “welcoming” policy toward immigrants.
In the Senators district, the womb is the most unwelcoming and dangerous place for an African American child.
[I wrote the following a number of years ago and will include in my upcoming book, Rivers of Blood/Oceans of Mercy:]
Saint Teresa of Calcutta:
” The so-called right to abortion…has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships…the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion… your decision [to legalize abortion] has deformed a great nation.”
The further we are removed from our moral and spiritual Judeo-Christian heritage, and the absolute providence of our Creator over human life, the further we travel with Alice down the rabbit hole into cultural chaos and madness.
If we fail to turn away from this evil, we will see a nation that becomes increasingly irrational, divided, weak and vulnerable to internal and external attacks.
The November elections may be the most important in the history of our nation. Make sure you are registered to vote. Help your friends, family and church members to get registered. Visit this page to learn more.

“…In 2013 black women accounted for 29,007 terminated pregnancies, representing almost 42 percent of all abortions in the city…With abortions surpassing live births by nearly 5,000, African American women in the city clearly terminated pregnancies more often than they carried babies to term.” (According to a report by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene’s Bureau of Vital Statistics – Politifact)
