As Ohio voters head to the polls today to decide whether they should amend their state constitution to include an invented right to abortion, leaders of Priests for Life are calling on them to Vote No on Issue 1.
“This ballot referendum goes too far for the people of Ohio, even those who consider themselves pro-choice,” said Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone, who produced a commercial aimed at securing a No vote for the referendum.
“The Democrats pushing and funding this are extremists who want nothing less than taxpayer-funded abortion through all nine months of pregnancy. That’s the message we have been spreading.”
Janet Morana, executive director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, said voters in the state should remember that abortion also harms – and sometimes, kills – women.
“As the commercial created by our friends at Created Equal has pointed out so powerfully, babies are not the only victims of an abortion. Even women who survive the procedure without physical injury can discover too late that ending the life of their own children is not without emotional consequences. Grief can last a lifetime. I hope voters keep the health and safety of women in mind when they vote today. Please Vote No on Issue 1.”
Bryan Kemper, youth outreach director and coordinator of street activism for Priests for Life, is an Ohio resident with daughters and granddaughters growing up in the state. He has been very active with Protect Women Ohio in fighting to defeat this amendment.
“Lives depend on every Ohio voter who has not yet voted to get out today and Vote No on Issue 1,” Kemper said. “If this amendment passes, women will come from states where babies are protected by law to abort their children in a newly lawless Ohio. We will become an abortion destination, something no one from Ohio wants.”
