TITUSVILLE, FL -- The message believers should come away with on National Sanctity of Human Life Sunday on Jan. 21 is that they can end abortion, according to Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone.
“We can do it,” he said. “We can succeed. We are succeeding. And all believers have something to contribute to that. The Church communicates to the world the same message God gives to us: I am with you.”
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan declared Jan. 22 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day to mark the tragic anniversary of the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. Churches observe the day annually on the Sunday closest to Jan. 22.
Priests for Life has many resources available to churches, including prayer cards and informational brochures, at ProLifeProducts.org. At ProLife.Church, clergy will find suggestions on how to preach about abortion and mobilize people to pro-life action, and there is a wide selection of pro-life prayers and prayer books.
“We’re in this effort together,” Pavone said. “Let’s help each other. Let’s talk about abortion, about the successes we’ve had and the work still to be done, together.”
