TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life last month helped organize Lobby Day, which sent hundreds of pro-life activists to the nation’s capital to urge lawmakers to defund big abortion, including Planned Parenthood.
Now, Priests for Life is asking supporters to visit their U.S. senators and House members in their local offices in the next two weeks.
“Now it’s time to take this lobbying effort to the next level,” said Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone. “A visit to a local office about a national issue makes a strong impact and will show these members that the question of funding abortion has got the attention of their people.”
Pavone is asking supporters to visit both Republicans and Democrats.
“We want to meet with those who already strongly agree with us and those who strongly disagree,” he said. “They all need to see the evidence of what every poll indicates: Americans do not want to pay for abortions.”
On Lobby Day, pro-life leaders and activists urged members of Congress to use the upcoming budget reconciliation process to defund abortion providers. “We need people to make these office visits soon,” Pavone said, “because right now, Congress is hammering out the bill that either will or will not defund abortion and the abortion industry.”
