Media Advisory: Fr. Frank Pavone available for interviews on Unplanned film

Priests for Life

As the official debut of the film Unplanned approaches, journalists are invited to contact Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, to get his unique insights on the film that chronicles the pro-life journey of former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson. Fr. Pavone has been influential in Abby’s life.

  • Abby was a viewer of Fr. Pavone’s pro-life series Defending Life on EWTN even while still employed as a Planned Parenthood clinic director.
  • When she saw Fr. Pavone praying outside her Planned Parenthood facility, she wanted to go outside to meet him. But her colleagues dissuaded her.
  • Abby met with Fr. Frank after leaving the abortion industry because of his key role in national pro-life leadership and his work since the mid-1990’s in helping ex-abortionists and clinic workers to find healing through the Society of Centurions.
  • As others followed her out of the industry, Abby worked with Fr. Pavone to bring them healing.
  • Fr. Pavone has assisted many such people who have left the abortion industry, including the “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, Norma McCorvey, whom he received into the Church.
  • Fr. Pavone wrote the forward for her book Unplanned, upon which the film is based.
  • Fr. Pavone is godfather to Abby’s second child.
  • Fr. Pavone was a key leader who helped 40 Days for Life transition from a local to a national and worldwide project.
  • Fr. Pavone is pastoral director of the world’s largest ministry for healing after abortion, Rachel’s Vineyard, and has been helping the film’s producers identify followup resources for audiences who will view Unplanned.

In a letter Abby wrote about Fr. Pavone in 2011, she said: “Fr.  Frank is the reason I am where I am today…emotionally and spiritually.  He has given me guidance and direction that I couldn’t find from anyone else.  I am not a particularly emotional person.  The first time I heard Fr. Frank speak at an event about clinic workers, I wept.  How could he see inside my heart?  How did he know my thoughts?  Because this is his life. He isn’t just in this for the children; he is in this for people like me, too…the wounded, the broken, the angry, and the scarred.”
