TITUSVILLE, FL – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, today said a statement from business leaders asserting that restricting access to abortion is bad for their bottom line was “self-serving and delusional.”
“Business owners who care nothing about their employees outside of work hours are the worst kind of employers,” Mrs. Morana said. “Maternity leave costs them money; prenatal care costs them money; insurance covering child birth costs them money. Naturally they want their female employees to abort their children so they don’t lose their productivity. But a life worth living involves more than being productive at work. Every woman in the U.S. who works outside the home should be outraged by this statement.”
Father Pavone added: “These business leaders are not only saying that abortion restrictions are bad for business. They are insisting that abortion is good for business. This is a scary sentiment indeed. Freedom of choice most often means women have no freedom and no choice. This statement from the nation’s misguided millionaires will serve to increase the pressure on female employees to abort their children.”
