TITUSVILLE, FL –- As the world today celebrates the Feast Day of St. Teresa of Calcutta – Mother Teresa – Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement:

“Mother Teresa famously said ‘The greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion.’ That is as true today as it was in 1994 when she said it at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington. At a time in our nation when some people are saying climate change and immigration policies are the most important issues of our day, Mother Teresa helps us get our priorities straight,” Father Pavone said. “We cannot advocate for human rights and social justice unless we protect the unborn.”

I had the joy of knowing Mother Teresa and discussing this matter with her numerous times. She strongly supported the mission of Priests for Life, urging priests and deacons to give priority attention to ending “the terrible war against unborn children.”

Mother Teresa was born in Albania in 1910, and died on Sept. 5, 1997 in India, where the religious order she founded, the Missionaries of Charity, is based.

Priests for Life is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. For more information, visit www.EndAbortion.US.
