TITUSVILLE, FL -- “I think our nation is more united today than it was even yesterday,” Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented on the morning after President Trump’s State of the Union address.
“Even news analysts who have been against him from day one now acknowledge that momentum is on the president’s side,” Father Pavone said. “Anyone who cannot celebrate the president’s accomplishments over the last three years – for our economy, our security, our standing in the world – doesn’t have a problem with this president; they have a problem with America itself. Any American who can’t cheer for America is, of course, free to leave and go cheer for some other country.”
Father Pavone praised the president for his support for the right to life of every baby, and the call he repeated last night to Congress to pass legislation, which now enjoys strong support, to end the practice of late-term abortion.
“It was so important for the nation to see Ellie Schneider, who was born at 21 weeks and six days. Abortion is legal at that point and in some states, there is no limit on when a child can be aborted. The president helped Americans see what this so-called ‘choice’ would destroy.”
Father Pavone also had high praise for the president’s statements on prayer and freedom of religion, especially these words: “In America, we don’t punish prayer. We don’t tear down crosses. We don’t ban symbols of faith. We don’t muzzle preachers and pastors. In America, we celebrate faith, we cherish religion, we lift our voices in prayer, and we raise our sights to the Glory of God.”
Father Pavone added, “For too long in this country, pastors have been afraid of speaking out on many issues, including abortion, but under this president, it is clear that the First Amendment applies to all of us, clergy included.”
Priests for Life is urging all its supporters to watch the State of the Union address and to share it with others.
“We were proud to broadcast it live on EndAbortion.TV, where viewers can find it to watch again.”
Priests for Life (www.EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed 187 (and counting) pro-life judges on the federal bench.
