TITUSVILLE, FL -- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement regarding the executive order on international religious freedom President Trump signed this week:
“Since taking office, President Trump has shown time and time again that he is committed to protecting and expanding the religious freedom every American is promised under the First Amendment, and that everyone in the world has because of his or her human dignity.
“With his executive order on international religious freedom, he continues to demonstrate his concern for people in any nation who are being persecuted, prosecuted or marginalized for their beliefs,” Father Pavone said.
Noting that the president last year hosted a Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom during the United Nations General Assembly, and partnered with international organizations to aid those suffering religious persecution, Father Pavone added: “Our president has looked at every place in our society – home and abroad - where religious liberty is threatened, and taken steps to protect it. This executive order demonstrates that even in the midst of a global health crisis, his commitment to people of faith remains strong.”
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed more than 200 (and counting) pro-life judges on the federal bench.
