TITUSVILLE, FL -- With the U.S. Senate set to vote in the upcoming days on another of President Trump’s stellar nominees for the federal judiciary, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement:
“This week there was fantastic news from Maine, where a Trump nominee, Judge Lance Walker, dismissed a challenge that the abortion cartel there brought against the Trump administration’s Title X rule,” Father Pavone said.
“That rule prevents federal funding from flowing to the abortion industry, and requires that abortion facilities be physically separated from clinics that provide legitimate healthcare services. This rule also was upheld in February by the notoriously liberal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in a 7-4 ruling decision. Those seven judges were Republican appointees, including two selected by President Trump.
“This is proof positive that elections matter, and that the president is making good on his promise to place on the federal bench judges who understand the Constitution of the United States and respect the sanctity of life.”
On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced to the full Senate the nomination of Cory Wilson, a Trump pick for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The president has placed about 200 judges on the federal courts.
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed more than 200 (and counting) pro-life judges on the federal bench.
