TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life today thanked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Legislature for protecting young girls from the dangerous and unscrupulous abortion industry by signing a parental consent law.
“This law restores parental rights, and that is more important today than ever,” said Janet Morana, Executive Director of Priests for Life and co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. “Young girls are bombarded with messages that it’s never too early to be sexually active and that abortion can be their ‘get out of jail free’ card. But what we know from the women who are part of Silent No More and had abortions as teenagers is that it impacted every aspect of their lives, derailing plans, ruining relationships and leading to even more destructive behaviors. Having to confide in and get the consent of a parent can save not only the baby’s life, but the teenager’s life as well.”
Father Frank Pavone, National Director, said "Gov. DeSantis’s signing of this bill is an appropriate response to the abortion industry's willingness to sell abortions to teenagers behind their parents' backs. Such laws reduce the number of teen abortions and save lives. Every state should follow Florida's example."
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed 200 pro-life judges on the federal bench.
