Father Frank Pavone today condemned the violence roiling dozens of American cities and called on Democrats to do the same.
“Every American deserves to be safe in their homes and their communities and babies deserve to be safe in the womb,” said the national director of Priests for Life, one of the nation’s most influential anti-abortion organizations.
But Democrats apparently don't believe either of those things, Father Pavone said, citing 80 nights of violence in Portland, and 365 days of violence against the unborn.
“This is the Democrat Party platform,” he said. “Tacit support for war on city streets and allowing Americans to be threatened in their homes - violence and unrest under the guise of ‘social justice.’ For the Democrat Party, apparently war is peace and abortion is a human right.”
Abortion remains the most divisive issue in the nation and ends the lives of a million unborn children each year. Nowhere in the Democrat Party’s position on abortion do we find the willingness to protect a single baby from abortion, no matter how far developed that child is, and no matter what the reason for the abortion.
While Priests for Life is actively involved in advocating for pro-life legislation – like the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that Democrats continue to block in Congress – it also works to make abortion unthinkable by empowering clergy to be better defenders of the unborn and provides resources for pro-life organizations and individuals all over the country.
“It took a vicious attack on an innocent man and woman – caught on videotape – for Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler to condemn the violence in his city.” Father Pavone said. “Now the nation needs to hear other Democrats, particularly Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, speak out against the violence in our streets and in our homes.”
Priests for Life (EndAbortion.US) is the world’s largest Catholic pro-life organization dedicated exclusively to ending abortion. Pro-life efforts are working. The abortion rate in America is the lowest it has been since Roe v. Wade and in recent years states have passed more than 400 laws to protect the unborn. The number of freestanding abortion clinics in the U.S. has dropped from 2179 in 1991 down to 710 today, and President Trump has placed 200 pro-life judges on the federal bench.
