TITUSVILLE, FL -- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today thanked President Trump for his administration’s efforts to secure the commitment of 30 nations to work together to protect the human rights of the unborn.
The Geneva Consensus Declaration, signed today by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Aazar, calls for “better health for women, the preservation of human life, strengthening of family as the foundational unit of society, and protecting every nation's national sovereignty in global politics.”
By asserting “it is the sovereign right of every nation to make their own laws in regard to abortion, absent external pressure,” the declaration counters the U.N.’s Human Rights Commission assertion of abortion as a human right.
The Declaration was signed this morning during a virtual event hosted by the U.S., Hungary, Egypt, Brazil, Uganda and Indonesia.
“I am so grateful to the Trump administration for leading a growing anti-abortion coalition of 30 nations representing more than 1.5 billion people,” Father Pavone said. “This is the first time these nations have committed to working together – despite cultural and religious differences – to ensure that human rights are extended to every member of the human family.”
