TITUSVILLE, FL -- “State lawmakers continue leading the way in efforts to protect the unborn,” Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, said this morning after governors in Oklahoma and Montana signed pro-life legislation on Monday.
Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a law that would protect babies from abortion once a heartbeat has been detected. He also signed laws requiring abortions to be performed only by board-certified obstetrician/gynecologists, and a law that would strip medical licenses from doctors who perform abortions outside of medical emergencies.
In Montana, Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a bill that would protect babies from abortion from 20 weeks’ gestation on. Another bill requires abortionists to ask mothers if they would like to see an ultrasound image of their baby and to hear his or her heartbeat. A third law makes it mandatory for abortion drugs to be provided only by health-care professionals.
“As Gov. Gianforte said while signing the Montana bills, both his state and Oklahoma are taking action to protect the most vulnerable among us, the unborn,” Father Pavone said. “I thank God for pro-life activists, lawmakers and governors in both states for their commitment to life.
