Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Aug. 26 banquet of Right to Life of Southwest Indiana.
“The Right to Life of Southwest Indiana Life Achievement Award recognizes the longtime service, dedication, leadership, compassion and protection of preborn children and the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death,” said Mary Ellen Van Dyke, Executive Director. “Father Frank Pavone deserves our special thanks and recognition. He has demonstrated dedication to the sanctity of human life and especially for dedicating his life to saving the lives of innocent preborn children.
“The life of Father Frank Pavone is the very definition of life achievement.”
Father Pavone has been dedicated to ending abortion since he attended his first March for Life in Washington, D.C., as a public high school student. Ordained to the priesthood in 1988 by New York Cardinal John J. O’Connor, he asked the Cardinal in 1993 if he could devote his ministry full time to pro-life work. The Cardinal said yes and allowed Fr. Frank to start that year as national director of Priests for Life.
The ministry that began as an outreach to Catholic priests has remained committed to that mission while also expanding to include outreach ministries to youth and communities of color and to Moms, Dads and families in need of healing after abortion. Priests for Life also is active internationally as a registered non-governmental organization at the United Nations. Recognizing early in his ministry that elections have consequences, Father Pavone is a political activist whose goal is to end abortion. His work has been recognized by many organizations.
“I am so honored to have my work recognized by Right to Life of Southwest Indiana,” Father Pavone said. “I look forward to continuing our collaboration in the fight to end abortion. As I have said each time I’ve been honored over the years, these awards are not so much about looking back, as about being motivated to finish the work that lies ahead and to reach the goal, which is to end abortion. And we will.”
Conservative author, talk show host and political activist Candace Owens will be the keynote speaker at the event. Jennifer and Jeff Christie will give their testimony about deciding to keep the baby conceived when Jennifer was raped in 2014.
Previous recipients of the Life Achievement Award include former Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Sen. Dan Coats, the Green Family of Hobby Lobby, and filmmakers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer, who wrote and produced “Gosnell: The Trial of America’s Biggest Serial Killer.”
The banquet will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in the Old National Events Plaza in Evansville, Indiana. Tickets are nearly sold out but those remaining may be reserved at https://rtlswin.org/annualbanquet/
