TITUSVILLE, FL – “God bless Oklahoma,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life in response to the Oklahoma State Legislature passing Texas-style legislation banning abortions after cardiac activity can be detected in a fetus, typically no sooner than six weeks into pregnancy.
Dubbed the “Oklahoma Heartbeat Bill,” Gov. Kevin Stitt is poised to sign the bill within days. The legislation would go into effect immediately. There are no exceptions to the bill for cases of rape or incest, only if the mother's life is at risk.
“I was privileged to address the Oklahoma State Legislature some years ago and have seen for myself the deep pro-life commitment that both they and the pro-life groups that work with them have,” Father Pavone continued. “To me, all this pro-life legislation is not surprising, but it is great to see it coming to fruition to save lives. To our friends in Oklahoma: keep up the great work.”
