“As Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz signed the most extreme abortion law in the country, he guaranteed one thing: That state residents will push back against the radical agenda of their legislators,” Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone said today.

Pro-life Republicans in the Democrat-controlled legislature introduced 35 amendments to the Protect Reproductive Options Act and all of them were defeated, Pavone noted.

“Minnesotans want reasonable restrictions on abortion – like parental consent and limits on late-term procedures,” Pavone said. “People resist being pushed into extreme positions and the quickest way to push them is to pass something that makes them realize how extreme the measure is. Laws can be repealed and I predict a future legislature will do just that.

“Meanwhile, utilizing the 2024 election to gain control of Congress and the White House for the pro-life cause, we need to then pass federal gestational limits on abortion. Because of the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, such limits will override Minnesota’s law and protect babies there again.”
