TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone issued the following statement regarding the introduction of a bill today in the U.S. Senate that would mandate life-saving care for newborns who survive abortion.
Republican Senators James Lankford of Oklahoma and John Thune of South Dakota introduced the bill.
“I was just with Sen. Lankford a few days ago and he pledged that the Republican Senate would push for the pro-life measures sent to them by the House. This introduction of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act is a fulfillment of that promise. You can be sure he and our other pro-life friends there will not let the Democrats off the hook regarding their extremism on abortion,” Pavone said.
“We, the voters, need to echo this message. The Democrats have no respect for babies in the first months of life, whether they are in the womb or are born early, including because of a failed abortion.
“As we echo this message, the point is not so much to convert these radical evildoers as it is to convince the voters that it’s wrong to elect them.”
Pavone pledged that Priests for Life would work closely with pro-life elected lawmakers to get the bill through the Senate. The House passed its version last month.
