TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone issued the following statement today regarding a federal judge’s desire to ensure safety for court personnel at a hearing tomorrow.
“The judge who will decide the future of the abortion pill mifepristone is being criticized for wanting to keep a hearing in Amarillo, Texas, this week low-key, but he has very good reasons for doing so,” Pavone said. “He has been derided in the media for his devout Christian faith and his unwavering belief in the sanctity of all human life and has been the target of threats since President Trump nominated him to the federal bench in 2019.
“Also, attacks on pro-life organizations are continuing across the country, with very little concern on the part of law enforcement. Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk was acting prudently by asking lawyers involved in this hot-button case to keep the hearing date to themselves. It’s no secret that some pro-abortion activists have been openly advocating violence against pro-lifers, including the actress Jane Fonda who said on national television last week that pro-lifers should be murdered.
“It is no small irony that a hearing regarding whether the tiniest children and their mothers should be kept safe is surrounded by safety concerns,” Pavone concluded. “At Priests for Life we will pray that everyone is safe at tomorrow’s hearing.”
