The leadership of Priests for Life expresses its condolences to the family of the Rev. Dean Nelson, a pro-life activist with whom we have worked closely over the years. Rev. Nelson, vice president of government relations for Human Coalition and chairman of the board of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, died on Saturday, Dec. 16.
“The entire Priests for Life family is saddened to hear of Rev. Nelson’s death,” said Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone. “His was one of the most influential voices in the fight to save babies from abortion. The last thing he and I were working on was to increase the effectiveness of the strategy meetings we organize regularly for national pro-life leaders. He was always eager to network and build bridges of collaboration.”
Executive Director Janet Morana said the ministry is praying for his family.
“Our hearts go out to his wife, Julia, and their three children,” she said. “They are in our prayers, and in our hearts.”
