TITUSVILLE, FL -- Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, praised President Trump’s selection of Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the U.S. Supreme Court. The President announced his decision this afternoon at the White House.
“Once again, the President has kept his promises. He took an oath to fulfill his Constitutional duties, one of which is to nominate Supreme Court justices. He further fulfilled his promise, made in his first campaign and regularly since then, to appoint pro-life judges and those who apply the Constitution and laws rather than their own opinions. And he fulfilled a third promise, by selecting someone from the list he had previously made public as the pool of names from which he would select nominees for the Supreme Court. This is a president who keeps his promises, and more,” Fr. Pavone noted.
“And I am certain the Republican leadership, particularly Sen. Mitch McConnell and Sen. Lindsey Graham, will fulfill their promises as well, and will oversee a swift and fair confirmation process.
“What is troubling, of course, is the track record of the Senate Democrats. We will not forget the sham, the circus, the national disgrace that they dragged the country, the Senate, and the nominee through the last time President Trump chose someone for the Supreme Court. There is no evidence that the Democrats have repented of what they did to Brett Kavanaugh. These Democrat Senators and their radical left-wing supporters have no regard for due process, presumption of innocence, or the Constitution. I expect to see more of the corruption and delay tactics they have used in the past.
“Their party is led now by the same man, Joe Biden, who headed the Senate Judiciary Committee and presided over the shameful treatment of both Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas. So I have no doubt that the Democrats will be cheered on by their corrupt leader, accompanied by Kamala Harris, who is on the Judiciary Committee now and will no doubt manifest her disgraceful spirit as well,” Fr. Pavone said.
Priests for Life Executive Director Janet Morana added, “Judge Barrett’s age, 48, means she will likely serve on the Supreme Court for 30 years. That means my grandchildren’s children will benefit from her commitment to the United States and the intentions of its founders. I’m thrilled with her appointment.”
