“Children, let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth” (1 Jn. 3:18).
Lord, You told us that
Not all who say, “Lord, Lord” will enter Your Kingdom,
But only those who do the will
Of Your Heavenly Father,
Which is one with Your will.
Lord, we are ready to do the will
Of the One who created and sustains all life.
We are ready to do the will
Of the one who hears the cry of the oppressed
And secures Justice for His people.
Preserve us, O Lord, from just talking about what is right
And give us the courage and strength to do what is right.
Preserve us from simply talking about human rights
Without taking action to defend them.
Preserve us from having lips that declare the sanctity of life
But hands that fail to serve those lives.
Lord, let our love for the unborn
Express itself in deeds that reach out to save them,
Deeds that urge their Moms and Dads to choose life,
Deeds that awaken our communities to the killing centers in our midst,
Deeds that equip our pastors to speak out,
Deeds that elect politicians who will protect these babies,
And all the other pro-life deeds that Your grace and Holy Spirit inspire.
Enable us always to live in deed and truth,
And not merely talk about it.
You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
