Guidance for Submitting Comments Regarding the HHS Mandate
July 28, 2016
As you know, earlier this year, the Supreme Court ordered Priests for Life’s legal challenge to the HHS mandate, and six other lawsuits, to be sent back to lower appeals courts with the instruction that the government should try to reach an accommodation with religious groups who object to being complicit in the distribution of abortion causing drugs and other objectionable items to their employees.
Now, the Obama administration is opening up this controversy to public comment, asking for public input on how to achieve this goal.
This is our opportunity to stand together strongly for religious liberty, as the bishops have been urging us to do. You can be sure that those who want to advance abortion and contraception at the expense of religious liberty will let their voices be heard.
Let's not fail to raise ours.
At IStandWithPFL.com are step-by-step instructions on how to file comments with the government by email, regular mail, express or overnight mail, or in-person delivery. Also posted at the website are helpful videos, talking points, articles and other materials explaining the HHS mandate, why it threatens the free exercise of religion, and how citizens can help defend against this threat by sending their opinions to the administration. The deadline for public comments is September 20.
I know that many will want to know what to say, exactly. That is why I will also hold this public webcast to assist interested Churches, organizations, and private citizens to submit their comments in this public process.
The date will be announced shortly.
Please invite others to join us as well!
