There is forgiveness after abortion
We who reject abortion do not reject those who have had abortions. Counseling, forgiveness, and healing can be found after abortion. Priests for Life facilitates the world’s largest ministry for healing after abortion. Known as “Rachel’s Vineyard,” this ministry holds hundreds of retreats worldwide each year and provides followup services as well.

WHAT IS AN ABORTION?
Although abortion is among the most common surgeries in America, most people never see what it looks like. The hearts and minds of most people who see it are changed forever. See for yourself! www.LookAtAbortion.com.
Following are quotes from three abortionists and the Supreme Court, all describing legal abortion procedures:
“Question: Can the heart of a fetus or embryo still be beating during a suction curettage abortion as the fetus or embryo comes down the cannula?
Answer: For a few seconds to a minute, yes.”
(Sworn testimony given in US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison, WI, May 27, 1999, Case No. 98-C-0305-S), by Dr. Harlan Raymond Giles, an abortionist. He describes legal activity.)
“A long curved Mayo scissors may be necessary to decapitate and dismember the fetus…" (From the medical textbook Abortion Practice – Dr. Warren Hern, p.154, describing legal activity)
“The friction causes the fetus to tear apart. For example, a leg might be ripped off the fetus as it is pulled through the cervix.”
(US Supreme Court, Gonzales vs. Carhart, April 18, 2007, describing the D&E procedure, which is legal)
“Typically the skull is brought out in fragments rather than as a unified piece…"
(Sworn testimony given in US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison, WI, May 27, 1999, Case No. 98-C-0305-S), by Dr. Martin Haskell, an abortionist. He describes legal activity.)
HOW FAR IN PREGNANCY IS ABORTION LEGAL?
As the University of Detroit Law Review points out, "The Supreme Court's decisions…allowed abortion on demand throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy" (Paul B. Linton, Enforcement of State Abortion Statutes after Roe: A State-by-State Analysis, Vol. 67, Issue 2, Winter 1990).
HOW MANY ABORTIONS OCCUR?
According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, 926,200 abortions took place in the United States in the year 2014. Approximately 35,000 of these occurred on women who were 16 to 20 weeks pregnant; approximately 12,000 occurred on women who were 21 weeks or more into their pregnancy. According to one set of CDC government data, over 64,000 abortions in a year are performed on women who had had three or more previous abortions.
From 1973 to the present, over 60 million legal abortions occurred in our country.
WHY DO PEOPLE GET ABORTIONS?
Abortions are done mostly for non-medical reasons. As the Alan Guttmacher Institute reports, “The three most common reasons—each cited by three-fourths of patients—were concern for or responsibility to other individuals; the inability to afford raising a child; and the belief that having a baby would interfere with work, school or the ability to care for dependents. Half said they did not want to be a single parent or were having problems with their husband or partner.”
WHAT ELSE CAN YOU DO?
Join our Prayer Campaign
Prayer is the foundation of everything we do in the pro-life movement. You can strengthen the movement, save lives, and change hearts and minds by praying explicitly each day for an end to abortion, for the babies and their parents, for doctors and public officials, and for all who are working in this great cause. At www.PrayerCampaign.org you can follow our prayer campaign throughout the year. You will find
• A daily prayer to end abortion
• Seasonal pro-life prayers (Advent, Lent, Easter, etc.)
• Novenas to prepare for special days (like January 22, the commemoration of Roe vs. Wade)
• Pro-life prayers for multiple occasions
We invite you to join this effort and to promote it in your family, parish, school, pro-life group, website, and more!
And please let us pray for you by sending us your prayer needs at www.PrayerIntentions.org.
Partner with the Silent No More Awareness Campaign
At www.SilentNoMore.com, you can partner with the world’s largest movement of women and men who have lost children to abortion. By doing so, you can spread the word that healing and forgiveness are available to those who have had abortions. An individual, organization, or church can “partner” with the campaign and thereby
• Promote the opportunities for healing.
• Use the testimonies (text, audio, and video) of those who have had abortions, to awaken others to the devastation it brings and to the healing Christ brings (see www.AbortionTestimonies.com).
• Invite men and women who are willing to share their abortion testimony to do so at gatherings, in churches, on radio and TV, or in private meetings with legislators and others.
• Invite those who have lost children to abortion to go to IRegretMyAbortion.com and indicate, anonymously if they prefer, that they regret their abortions. This creates a large chorus of voices showing the damage abortion does.
Silent No More also carries our “Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion” (www.AbortionShockwaves.com), by which we show that every abortion, by killing a baby, harms mom and dad, siblings and grandparents, other family members, friends, abortionists, pro-life advocates, and all society.
Study and Live the Pro-life Spirituality

By doing this you will be given specific reading material that will deepen your understanding of the pro-life movement, such as Fr. Exercise Political Responsibility
The pro-life movement works across party lines and calls everyone to rediscover that the foundational principle of government the right to life, and the duty of government to protect life. Moreover, if we want our public policies to be based on that principle, then it’s necessary to participate in elections and in communicating with those who are elected.
At www.ProLifeVote.com, you can learn more about the many activities you, your family, your organization, and your church can take part in to make a difference in public policy. You can learn about how to register voters, find information about candidates, get people to the polls, and hold public officials’ feet to the fire so that they deliver on their promises.
What happens to people after an abortion?
After my abortion I hemorrhaged, later to become infected. When I met the man I wanted to marry I found I would never be able to have other children. He wanted children, we did not marry....—Lavonia
During the procedure, I felt numb and helpless, and for this monumental failure, I take full responsibility - Chuck
I called my sister-in-law and she shared that my daughter’s procedure was complete…and my grandchild was dead. I cannot explain the level of grief and anger that flooded my heart and soul. - Leann
After finding out (about my mom’s abortion) I had such deep sadness…I was grieving the loss of my little brother - Susio

Father Frank A. Pavone
Fr. Frank Pavone is one of the most prominent pro-life leaders in the world. He was ordained in 1988 by Cardinal John O’Connor in New York. In 1993 he became National Director of Priests for Life. He is also the President of the National Pro-life Religious Council, and the National Pastoral Director of the Silent No More Campaign and of Rachel’s Vineyard, the world’s largest ministry of healing after abortion. He travels throughout the country, to an average of four states every week, preaching and teaching against abortion. He produces programs regularly for religious and secular radio and television networks. He was asked by Mother Teresa to speak in India on abortion. The Vatican appointed him to the Pontifical Academy for Life and to the Pontifical Council for the Family, which fosters the pro-life activities of the Catholic Church. He was present at the bedside of Terri Schiavo as she was dying and was an outspoken advocate for her life. He was invited by members of the Class of 2009 at Notre Dame to lead an alternate commencement ceremony for those students who refused to attend the ceremony in which President Obama was honored. Fr. Frank preached at the Congressional prayer service just prior to the vote on health care reform. He received the “Proudly Pro-life Award” by the National Right to Life Committee, and numerous other pro-life awards and honorary doctorates. Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of the Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade abortion decision, called Fr. Pavone “the catalyst that brought me into the Catholic Church.”
