Spread the word about Safe Haven laws
As I said in my alert, Safe Haven laws in effect in every state since 2008 give moms who feel they cannot parent their child a way to legally - and safely - turn over their newborns at hospitals, fire stations and police precincts.
States have different cutoffs for how long babies can be surrendered, but all of them give mothers ample time after the birth to hand the baby off with no consequences whatsoever.
But despite these important laws, too often mothers - many of them teenagers who have kept their pregnancies secret - are giving birth and allowing their babies to die. Chances are they did not know about Safe Haven laws, so I’m asking you to make it part of your pro-life mission to help spread the word.
