Challenge Abortion Supporters: Is This What You Mean?

Dear Friends,
When we call people pro-abortion, we are often taken to task by those who insist no one is truly for abortion, that abortion advocates merely support a woman’s “right to choose.”
But consider some recent glaring examples that tell a different story.
First, the actress Cynthia Nixon posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a hat that said “Make Abortion Great Again.” And while she was taken to task over it by the conservative media, the post received hundreds of thousands of likes from those who agreed with her message.
Hundreds of thousands of people want to make abortion “great again” - whatever that might mean.
Then, on a podcast interview, the British singer Lily Allen talked in shocking terms about her multiple abortions.
“I would get pregnant all the time. Abortions, I’ve had a few but then again,” she continued, while playfully singing. “I can’t remember exactly how many. I can’t remember… I think maybe like five. Four or five.”
Don’t tell me there is no such thing as someone who is pro-abortion!
My challenge to these vacuous celebrities, to the abortion industry, and to the Democrat Party that supports taxpayer-funded abortion without limits is simple:
Describe what you defend!
Priests for Life has an ongoing project that aims to:
- Reveal the nature of the abortion procedure to the public,
- Challenge public officials, celebrities and others who support the legality of abortion to admit what abortion is.
The project makes use of the words of the abortionists themselves. Quoting these words, we simply ask abortion supporters, “When you say the word ‘abortion,’ is this what you mean?”
What the abortion supporter says in response does not matter. The goal is accomplished: What that person stands for has been revealed, both to that person and to all who listen.
The 2026 midterm elections begin now. It is crucial that the party closer to our position, the Republican Party, not only maintain but expand its majorities in the U.S. House and Senate. Voters in states where there will be pro-abortion constitutional amendments on the ballot also have to be absolutely certain about the nature of the “right” these amendments advocate.
