Pray to End Abortion

Dear Friends,
Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have in the fight to end abortion. It doesn’t simply “help” us – rather, it makes it possible in the first place for us to both desire and do the good work to which we are committed. As Jesus said, “Apart from me you can do nothing” (Jn. 15:5).
Just as prayer is the core of our Christian life, prayer naturally plays a foundational role in the pro-life movement. It puts us in touch with God, who gives us spiritual strength, hope, and guidance to advocate for the dignity and value of every human life.
In prayer we seek wisdom and compassion, courage and perseverance.
Prayer brings us the insight and prophetic strength to proclaim the pro-life message. Prayer helps us respond with love rather than anger or judgment. Prayer calls down repentance on those who advocate abortion, forgiveness on those who have repented, and healing on those who bear its scars.
Our prayer covers Moms, Dads, and families facing unexpected pregnancies and difficult circumstances, the unborn babies themselves, and all those involved in making decisions about pregnancy.
We pray for our Church leaders and our political leaders, that they may speak up for and advance the protection of the children in the womb.
Prayer gives us compassion for those who feel afraid, alone, and tempted to abort, as well as for those who advocate for them on the sidewalk or in the pregnancy centers.
Prayer enables us keep going. As pro-life advocates, we often encounter criticism, disappointment or difficult - even dangerous - circumstances, and prayer enables us to remain committed to our beliefs while treating all with dignity and respect.
Prayer, furthermore, fuels action, because the God with whom it unites us is the source of every good work. Prayer is not an escape from action, but rather its catalyst. When we come away from prayer, we should not feel rested, but restless. We should not feel that we’ve done our duty, but that we’ve been given our duty.
