Dear Friends,
In-person early voting is underway in Virginia for the November midterm elections.
Also absentee ballots have been mailed to voters in Idaho who requested them.
The outcome of ballot amendments in both of these states, along with Missouri and Nevada, will determine if the unborn live or die.
This is not an exaggeration. This is fact.
In Virginia, voters will decide if their state constitution should protect “reproductive health decisions.” We all know that means abortion.
Pro-lifers must vote NO on Question 1.
Virginians also will decide on an amendment that, if approved, would remove the constitution’s 2006 definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman and replace it with language guaranteeing the right of two adults to marry regardless of sex, gender, or race. Former Lt. Gov. Winsome Earl-Sears, a great friend of Priests for Life, is among those working hard to make sure both amendments fail, crisscrossing the state on her Life and Marriage Tour.
Vote NO on Question 2 if you believe marriage is the union of one man and one woman.
In Idaho, voters will be asked whether they support or oppose establishing a right to “reproductive freedom” and privacy. The stakes are very high in Idaho, where laws now protect most babies from abortion. These laws will fall like dominoes if this amendment passes. We’ve watched it happen in Kansas, Ohio and Missouri.
Pro-lifers must vote NO on Proposition 1.
In Nevada, voters are being asked to amend the state constitution to impose a right to abortion until fetal viability and beyond. The amendment passed in 2024 but, according to state law, must pass a second time.
Pro-lifers must vote NO on Question 6 when early voting begins Oct. 17.
In Missouri, voters have a chance to repeal an amendment passed in 2024 that imposed a right to abortion in a state that had numerous laws protecting the unborn. Most of those laws have since been struck down, including a law that protected most babies from abortion. Pro-lifers in the state refused to let the unjust 2024 amendment stand, and succeeded in getting the new question on the ballot.
Pro-lifers must vote YES on Amendment 3 when early voting begins Oct. 20.
If you live in one of these states, I have no doubt you will do the right thing. But no matter where you live, you can help influence voters in those states. We all have family, friends and social media contacts all over the country, including these four battlegrounds for life. We must reach out to all of these people with the message that this issue is too important to sit out.
We hear constantly about social media influencers but when we look into what they are influencing, it’s often some product or other that they get paid to try to convince you to buy.
Our cause is much more important. If these amendments pass in Idaho, Virginia and Nevada, and if the one in Missouri fails, babies will die. It really is that simple. And it really is that tragic.
