Bob Lalonde represented Priests for Life at the 63rd Session of the Commission for Social Development (CSocD63) from Feb 5 – 14 at the United Nations. This year’s theme was “Strengthening solidarity, social inclusion and social cohesion to accelerate the delivery of the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and Programme of Action of the World Summit for Social Development as well as the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. We participated in the main sessions as well as side events and contributed a defense of life statement to the Commission. We co-sponsored a joint civil society statement on the proclamation of an International Decade of Action for the Family. We are also preparing for the 69th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69 / Beijing+30) whose focus will be on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.
