Our PFL team began the trip from Madrid to the 4th International Pro Life Congress in Zaragoza with the rosary but the devil soon reared his ugly head and literally crippled their car within the hour. It had to be towed back to Madrid and they drove another car for the three hour journey. Unfortunately, they missed the scheduled meeting with Archbishop Manuel Ureña of Zaragoza but the devil's plans were thwarted when the good Archbishop decided to meet with them just before the congress began.
Pilar Gutierrez, President of Unidos por la vida and PFL Spain organizer, introduced the very receptive Archbishop to Priests for Life's ministries such as Rachel's Vineyard, the Silent No More Awareness Campaign, and Missionaries of the Gospel of Life. The Archbishop also blessed our traveling corporal from the St Theresa of Avila convent which will eventually reach its home in PFL's chapel in Staten Island, New York.
The 4th International Pro Life Congress started today with a renowned roster of international speakers and pro-life topics including Dr Jutta Burggraf, Professor of Theology at the University of Navarra, who spoke for the defense of life with efficacy; Fr Ramon Lucas, Professor of Philosophic Anthropology and Bioethics who hosted an ethical-anthropological debate; and testimonials from Esperanza Puente and Miriam Fernandez.
More than 1,000 representatives from various pro-life organizations and 14 countries including the U.S., Canada, Uganda, Cuba and France are participating in the congress and PFL is pleased to have been invited to address them.
The conference runs from November 6-8.
