Prayer, activism, politics focus of Priests for Life’s DC events during March for Life
As the ministry does every year, Priests for Life will host several national events in the days surrounding the March for Life in Washington, D.C.
On Thursday, Jan. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m., Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone will lead an interdenominational prayerful protest outside Planned Parenthood at 1225 Fourth St. NE. National pro-life leaders will speak during the protest.
Also on Thursday, from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Priests for Life will co-sponsor a Show the Truth rally in front of the White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
On Friday, Jan. 19, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., the 29th annual interdenominational National Prayer Service will honor four pro-life activists at DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 D St. NW. The honorees are Bishop Joseph Strickland; Sister Deirdre Byrne, POSC, who will represent peaceful pro-lifers who are in prison; Mark Houck and Mark Lee Dickson.
Bishop Strickland will celebrate a Catholic Mass at 7:30 a.m. Priests for Life sponsors the annual event with the National Pro-Life Religious Council. This year’s co-sponsors are the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates and Catholics for Catholics.
On Friday, Jan. 19, at approximately 2 p.m., the women and men of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign will gather at the steps of the Supreme Court, 1 First St. NE, to give their testimonies about their abortion experiences.
On Monday, Jan. 22, beginning at 11 a.m., the 51st anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision will be observed with a prayer service at the steps of the US Supreme Court to memorialize more than 65 million children killed in legal abortion in the U.S. Priests for Life, Faith & Liberty and the Christian Defense Coalition will co-host the event.
