TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life, one of the world’s largest pro-life organizations, stands firmly and publicly against New York Proposal 1. This amendment, under the guise of promoting “equal protection,” actually deprives the children in the womb of the minimal protection they currently have in New York State. Moreover, it nullifies parental rights over what their children do regarding their sexuality, gender and pregnancy.
As a ministry once based in New York, and one that has co-sponsored the New York State March for Life multiple times, we know the numerous pro-life individuals and groups across the state, and their determination to work for as long as it takes to grant the unborn the equal protection of the law. But the advocates of Proposal 1 make it clear that their goal is to precisely bypass the will of the people, as expressed in their electoral choices, by cementing abortion-on-demand in the State Constitution.
In other words, if New Yorkers elect pro-life governors and legislators in the future, the abortion advocates want to tie their hands and prevent them from protecting children and their mothers from the ravages of abortion. This, of course, is not a sign of their strength, but of their weakness. They are afraid of the fact that whether in New York or across the country, the American electorate has never supported unlimited abortion, and they are not about to start now.
Priests for Life is calling on all citizens in New York to join in an evening of prayer we are sponsoring on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. ET on EndAbortion.TV (and its linked social media and video-sharing platforms). The intention of these prayers is for the defeat of this initiative and of similar measures in nine other states. State and national leaders will speak and pray on the broadcast.
Likewise, citizens are invited to learn more about these extreme abortion ballot measures through the series Fight the Abortion Ballot Initiatives, also airing on EndAbortion.TV each Thursday evening at 9 p.m. ET.
