TITUSVILLE, FL -- In the light of today’s Missouri Supreme Court decision to allow Amendment 3 to appear on the ballot in this election, Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone released the following statement:
“Proponents of this Amendment, particularly Missourians for Constitutional Freedom, are apparently both incapable and unwilling to be honest with the American people and the citizens of Missouri.
“Opponents of the Amendment are simply asking that the voters in Missouri be told exactly what they are approving if they vote for Amendment 3. Its proponents oppose efforts to clearly indicate to the people what laws would be challenged or reversed.
“We are not stupid. The only explanation for opposing transparency is that the Amendment’s proponents know the public would reject it. The people of Missouri have already passed, through their elected officials, numerous laws protecting the unborn, protecting the rights of parents, protecting the health and safety of women entering abortion clinics, and protecting their hard-earned tax dollars from paying for the killing of someone else’s baby.
“One way or the other, the people of Missouri will find out the devastating consequences Amendment 3. Either we will reach enough of them with our educational efforts between now and Nov. 5, or they will learn the hard way when commonsense and life-saving policies they support begin to vanish. And then they will take corrective action to undo Amendment 3.”
Priests for Life will hold a national prayer broadcast against Amendment 3 and similar amendments in other states on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. CT at EndAbortion.TV. All are invited.
