TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life leadership today responded to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy’s assertion that the Biden administration “twisted the data” on the safety of chemical abortion.

“We are very grateful to the secretary, and for Sen. James Lankford and Sen. Steve Daines, for bringing up this important yet overlooked topic during a Senate Finance Committee hearing on Thursday,” Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone and Executive Director Janet Morana said in a statement. “The public needs to hear this again and again: Chemical abortion is not safe for women.

“Under Biden, rules on the distribution of the deadly drug mifepristone were loosened to the point of absurdity. Now anyone can get it, ordered online and sent through the mail, which is why we keep hearing about men who have slipped their partners the pills on the sly, killing babies very much wanted by their mothers.

“But something equally insidious happened while Obama was in the White House: The FDA dropped the requirement for abortionists to report adverse effects of the drug, other than death. A recent report from the Ethics and Public Policy Center showed that emergency room visits were much higher than is being reported. For the government to continue to insist that chemical abortion is safe is ludicrous and we look forward to the results of a review of the drug promised by the FDA.”
