TITUSVILLE, FL -- Priests for Life National Director Frank Pavone today pledged solidarity with 51 United States senators - all Republicans - who have called on the Trump administration to restore restrictions on the deadly abortion drug mifepristone that were eliminated by former Presidents Biden and Obama.
Commenting on a letter from the senators to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the FDA, Pavone said: “The lives of babies and their mothers are at stake here. This deadly drug, a weapon of mass destruction if ever there was one, must be removed entirely from the arsenal of weapons used by the abortion cartel.
“This drug is never safe for the baby, and a recent survey of insurance claims, undertaken by the Ethics and Public Policy Center, found that nearly 11 percent of women experience sepsis, infection, hemorrhaging, or another serious adverse event within 45 days following a mifepristone abortion,” he said. “Now that a third company has been approved to manufacture and distribute the drug, the danger to mothers and babies increases.”
The letter written by South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham called on HHS and the FDA to suspend further approvals of generic forms until an ongoing review of the safety the abortion pill is concluded. They are also calling for in-person dispensing requirements for mifepristone and its generic forms to be reinstated, and for the FDA to rescind permission for pharmacies to distribute the drug.
Priests for Life is asking supporters to sign a petition calling for mifepristone to be taken off the market.
“By signing our petition, you will be ensuring that the FDA knows Americans are outraged by its latest action regarding deadly chemical abortion,” he said in an email to supporters.
“I am very confident that President Trump, who has done more for the pro-life movement and has saved more lives (of all ages) than any other president, will protect moms and babies from this atrocity as well,” Pavone concluded.
