Priests for Life is partnering with LIFE International in a special effort to help churches and people of faith recover a biblical understanding of the people of the womb within the Church’s Great Commission responsibility.
The collaboration grows out of The People of the Womb and the Great Commission, a white paper written by Kurt Dillinger, Founder and President of LIFE International. After presenting the paper nationally and internationally, Dillinger shared it with pro-life leader Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life. Their conversations revealed a shared desire to help the Church recognize that the protection of unborn life is not a separate concern added to its mission, but one that flows from the very foundations of Christian faith and discipleship.
“The effort to recognize children in the womb as real persons deserving our respect, attention and protection is not something ‘added to’ or ‘imposed upon’ our faith and life as a Church,” said Pavone. “Rather, it flows from its very foundation. Christ came to redeem humanity, and He commissioned His Church to make disciples, teaching them to obey all that He commanded. That necessarily shapes how we see and respond to every human life—including those who are most hidden and vulnerable.
“This is a moment for the Church to rediscover a people whom God has created, knows fully and has entrusted to our care and protection. Their worth does not depend upon what they can do, whether they are seen or wanted, or whether they will ever have the opportunity to speak for themselves. They bear the image of God. That is at the heart of The People of the Womb and the Great Commission.”
LIFE International equips the global Church with a gospel-centered foundation for affirming and protecting the dignity of every human life. The People of the Womb and the Great Commission calls Christians to recover the connection between the sanctity of human life and Christ’s command to make disciples of the nations.
“The Great Commission and the sanctity of human life have too often been treated as separate conversations within the Church,” said Kurt Dillinger, President of LIFE International. “The People of the Womb and the Great Commission demonstrates from Scripture that these two biblical mandates have always been inseparable.
“More than a new idea, this paper is a call for the Church to awaken to the Father’s heart for life and faithfully embrace its God-given responsibility toward the people of the womb as part of Christ’s mission to disciple the nations.”
